Yangon-- A massive amount of printing is underway for the launch of the main census results on the 29th May 2015 in Nay Pyi Taw. A Union Report is being printed which contains data about the size and geographical distribution of the population by sex and age, marital status, education, economic characteristics, fertility, mortality, migration and the characteristics of housing units and household amenities at the country level. It also provides information on former household members who are abroad. The Union report contains data up to the State/Region level, except for the population size which goes down to the township level.

In addition to the Union report, there will be limited editions of each of the fifteen State/Region reports at the launch of the census results, with the bulk of the printed copies now underway and scheduled for arrival in mid-June. In order to avoid these being too lengthy and detailed, analysis of the data is initially limited down to the Township level. Each State and Region is expected to hold a ceremony to launch its report. The data will be available as soon as possible as an open source down to the ward and village tract levels. This means you will have the information you need for planning in the administrative area in which you live.

For those of you who want a more concise overview of the results, a Highlights report will be available at the launch of the main census results as well as a leaflet giving you “Figures at a Glance” at the Union level and a Wall Chart with major indicators of the census results.

All these publications will be available on a DVD in addition to user friendly excel spread sheets that will enable you to quickly access all the data from the Union and State/Region reports. On the 29th May 2015, the Union and all State/Region reports as well as the Wall Chart and “Figures at a Glance” at the Union and State/Region levels will be available in English and Myanmar on UNFPA’s website at https://myanmar.unfpa.org/census and on the Department of Population’s website at http://www.dop.gov.mm
