Since the end of April, and with one month to go before the main census data release, UNFPA has been advertising the availability of its census toolkit in newspapers, on selected TV channels, its country office website as well as on the radio. In ten days alone, 200 people working in their communities across the country have ordered a copy of the toolkit – which is free of charge.
The census toolkit, available in eight languages, provides information about how the census information was collected and processed, and what information will be available in the main results, as well as a DVD. It can be used by all types of organisations to raise awareness about the main census results and how the data can be used to plan for development in individual communities. UNFPA has distributed two hundred toolkits across the country to date.
An animation is also being broadcast which gives an overview of what has happened since the population was counted last year and what information will be released in Nay Pyi Taw on the 29th May 2015.
If you would like a copy of the census toolkit, you can pick one up in person from UNFPA’s office at 6 Natmauk Road, Tamwe Township, Yangon. If you are outside Yangon please call 09 - 260 400 005 to order a toolkit or visit our website here where you can download the publications in the toolkit and view the animation.
