On 23 February, National League for Democracy (NLD) leader Aung San Suu Kyi met with Janet E Jackson, UNFPA representative for Myanmar, and Yoriko Yasukawa, director of UNFPA’s Asia-Pacific Regional Office.

While covering a wide range of topics within the UNFPA mandate, the discussion had special emphasis on issues related to women, including maternal health, women’s empowerment, and gender-based violence.

Another key discussion topic was the 2014 Myanmar Population and Housing Census.

The meeting took place in the Myanmar Parliament in Nay Pyi Taw.
