The UNFPA in Myanmar, through the Women and Girls First (WGF) Programme and in
collaboration with the implementing partner Myanmar Independent Living Initiative (MILI),
conducted accessibility audits at the service facilities operating by WGF’s implementing
partners and sub-grantees in selected states and regions of Myanmar.
This report, titled Accessibility Audit in WGF targeted States and Regions Myanmar, was
developed by Nay Lin Soe, Disability Inclusion Consultant, and the MILI team for the
UNFPA WGF Programme. Sincere appreciation is extended to Zay Yar Minn, Htet Htet
Aung, Thae Thae Mar, Aung Zaw Lwin, and Dr. San Myint Maung from MILI for their
operational and analytical assistance.
The audit would not have been succeeded without the lead, guidance, and support of the
UNFPA WGF team, led by Dr. Sridevi Srinivasan, Programme Manager, Tin Thuzar
Lwin, Programme Analyst (WGF) and Win Ei Phyu, Programme Analyst (M&E).
Finally, and most importantly, the sincerest gratitude is given to WGF’s implementing
partners, sub-grantees, local organizations of persons with disabilities, representatives
from service facilities, experts, and persons with and without disabilities who led and
participated in the audits—from Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Mon, Northern and Southern
Shan, Rakhine, Bago (East), and Yangon. Your active involvement and contributions
have enriched this report and helped identify the physical, information, and
communication barriers in existing service facilities towards enhancing the access and
participation of persons with disabilities and targeted populations in Sexual and
Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and Mental
Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) services in selected states and regions in
Myanmar.
