Powerful Myths Hidden Secrets
This assessment is the first of its kind to be conducted in the south-eastern region of Myanmar. It is an important contribution to ensuring the full inclusion of women and children in Myanmar’s political, social, and cultural systems, with a specific focus on the issue of gender-based violence (GBV) and its impact on these groups in south-eastern Myanmar. The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is grateful for the participation of women, men, boys and girls from Mon, Kayin and Kayah States for sharing their views and experiences during the study.
Five-Year Strategic Plan for Young People's Health (2016-2020)
Attaining highest level of health in young people to ensure that every young person’s potential is fulfilled is one of the core priorities of Myanmar Health Vision 2030. To this end the national Strategic Plan for young people’s health is developed. This requires increasing access to information and services, and creating safe and protective environments for young people to improve their health and wellbeing including health system strengthening, development of human resources for health with skills to engage with young people and provide youth friendly health services, health research and strengthening collaboration with national and international partners.

Myanmar SRMNAH Workforce Assessment
Midwives are the backbone of Sexual, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Adolescent Health (SRMNAH) care. Workforce planning is essential to identify the knowledge and skills that are required so that they can achieve their objectives. Such planning is an integral part of health system strengthening and its strategic management. An SRMNAH workforce assessment was undertaken in Myanmar in order to obtain a basis for the development of midwifery workforce policy and planning.
National Standards for Midwives
“The Natonal Standards for Midwives (Core Competencies and Educaton)” are the culminaton of a joint effort that began in June 2015, between UNFPA Myanmar and the Department of Health Professional Resource Development and Management (DHPRDM), Department of Public Health (DPH) and the Myanmar Nurse and Midwife Council (MNMC). Technical and fnancial support was provided to develop the natonal midwifery standards in line with ASEAN Regional Guidelines.
