Dr. Wendy Hartanto

Deputy Chairman, National Population and Family Planning Board Republic of Indonesia

Dr. Wendy Hartanto is a Deputy Chairman for the Population Management at the National Population and Family Planning Board Republic of Indonesia. In his current position he is responsible for promoting people centered development in the development planning programs in various sectors and responsible for harmonizing policies in the field of population and development. He started his career as a civil servant since 1980 at the BPS-Statistics Indonesia. 



He served as the Director of Population and Labor Force Statistics at the BPS-Statistics Indonesia. During his term in Statistics Indonesia, he was involved in implementing Population Census since 1980, and he successfully managed the planning and execution of the 2010 Indonesia Population Census. He is also active in International organization. Currently he is an Indonesia Partner Country Coordinator in Partners in Population Development (an inter-governmental organization for promoting south-south cooperation). He was also a vice president of the Association of National Census and Statistics Directors of America, Asia and the Pacific (ANCSDAAP). He has attended the expert Group on the Revision of the Principles and Recommendations for Housing and Population Censuses constituted by the UNSD.



Dr. Wendy Hartanto, a native of Indonesia, holds a Master and a Ph.D in Demography from the Australian National University, Canberra, Australia, and a Bachelor in Statistics from the Academy of Statistics, Jakarta.
