Myanmar is ageing. There are more elderly people in Myanmar than ever before. In the last 30 years the number of older persons (aged 65 and over) per 100 young persons (aged under 15) has almost doubled to 20.1. In the coming decades this ratio, the ageing index, will only continue to increase, only more rapidly.
